Carmela Notaristefano | Architect

Carmela is a seasoned architect with a wealth of experience, having graduated from the Facoltà di Architettura of Reggio Calabria, Italy, in 1995. She has been a registered member of the Association of the Architects of Messina since 2003. Carmela’s professional journey includes a valuable Erasmus experience in Paris and a master’s degree in applied art. She holds a CAM certification and has received training in Building Information Modeling (BIM) modeling. Additionally, Carmela is licensed in dlgs 81/2008 ss. mm. II and is recognized as a PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) expert. She has also served in various capacities as an expert in public administration.

Since 2002, Carmela has been an integral part of the Urban Future Organization in Messina, becoming one of its partners in 2007. Her commitment to advancing the organization’s work is evident through numerous exhibitions in cities such as Rome, Brasilia, Beijing, Prague, Copenhagen, Venice, Florence, Milan, Palermo, Agrigento, and Selinunte. Furthermore, her contributions have been showcased in various architectural magazines, including il Progetto, Casabella, l’Arca, Vogue Italia, Wall Paper, CA Architecture and Concept, Archined, and 10 critics x 100 architects, featuring commentary by Zaha Hadid for UFO, published by Phaidon London.

Carmela’s achievements with the UFO office extend to winning several international design competitions, including projects such as the MAAC Museum of Art and Architecture in Castelmola, the Etna’s Ski Centre, the new waterfront and polycentre of Messina, the Super City of Shenzhen, and the visitor centre of the archaeological park of Tindari. Currently, she remains actively involved in the ongoing development of the office’s portfolio in Italy.
