A Mediterranean hospitality landscape shaped by coastal terrain, climate, and architectural form

Eolian Milazzo Hotel + Residence

completed hotel and residential redevelopment in Milazzo, Sicily

Eolian Milazzo Hotel + Residence

Eolian Milazzo Hotel + Residence is a completed redevelopment project for one of the most prominent hotel sites in Milazzo, Sicily. The existing building occupies a dominant position on Capo Milazzo, with the Italian peninsula forming a dramatic background to the coastal setting.

HLM Group commissioned UFO Architecture to investigate the potential of transforming the existing building and site into a prestigious residential and hospitality destination. The project works with the sound existing structure through spatial reorganisation, material renewal and environmental upgrades.

The design is conceived as a Mediterranean architectural transformation where environmental performance becomes the main design driver. A performative louver system mediates solar gain, shade, privacy, transparency and interior spatial organisation, turning the building envelope into an active architectural system working from the exterior into the interior.
