The Vessel is a small CLT housing development in Åkersberga, Sweden, organised as a series of narrow, linear buildings set perpendicular to the road and extending out across the landscape. The project explores how compact timber dwellings can create a strong relationship between domestic interiors, garden spaces and the surrounding forest.
The buildings are primarily organised over two floors, with roof access to an upper terrace. The undercroft connects directly to the garden, while the long and narrow body of each dwelling recalls the spatial logic of a shotgun house.
The section is developed through split levels that create oblique views through the interior and out toward the forest beyond. Constructed in cross-laminated timber, the project connects spatial compactness, engineered timber construction and landscape-oriented living.
The design was developed in collaboration with Strömbro Building Workshop.
