Poly Center & Hotel Messina is a 2017 mixed-use waterfront masterplan and architectural proposal by UFO Architecture – Messina Studio for Messina, Sicily. The project explores how a new hotel and mixed-use development can contribute to the regeneration of a Mediterranean coastal city while strengthening its relationship to the waterfront.
The proposal aims to stimulate sustainable economic and social growth through a combination of hotel, commercial, public and urban programmes. Rather than treating the project as an isolated development, the design positions it as part of a wider waterfront strategy for public life, connectivity and urban renewal.
The project works with Messina’s historic identity and natural setting, seeking to preserve the character of the city while introducing new architectural and economic opportunities. Public space, landscape integration and mixed-use programming are used to create a more active and accessible urban waterfront.
Poly Center & Hotel Messina reflects UFO Architecture’s interest in urban regeneration, Mediterranean city-making and architectural proposals that connect economic development with public realm, landscape and local identity.
