Building & Landscape Integration

Building & Landscape Integration brings together UFO Architecture’s work on projects where architecture and topography are developed as one continuous spatial and ecological system. Rather than treating the building as an object placed on a site, these projects explore how landform, structure, circulation, vegetation and climate can fuse into a coherent architectural landscape.

UFO Architecture has developed particular expertise in complex and extreme terrains, especially in the Southern Mediterranean, where steep slopes, rocky ground, retaining structures and fragile ecological conditions require precise coordination between building and landscape. The interface between ground and architecture is treated as a critical design zone, shaped through terraces, retaining walls, foundations, thresholds and outdoor rooms.

The work is developed in close collaboration with landscape architects, consultants and local specialists. Drone scanning, photogrammetry and digital terrain modelling are used to capture complex landscapes and topographies, allowing design proposals to respond accurately to existing ground conditions and site-specific environmental systems.

Vegetation, planting and the local biome are integrated as part of the passive design strategy of each project. Green and blue systems are used to support shading, cooling, water management, biodiversity and long-term ecological performance, allowing architecture to contribute actively to the environmental quality of the site.
