The Zip Terraces primary design drive was to reverse the internal to external condition. This was devised by providing a two level green light well though the center of the terraces. The central core also serviced the vertical circulation and provided a first level deck between living and bedroom spaces. The site originally contained a single storey brick dwelling and a large garden area to the rear. Subdividing the plot into three equal lots enabled the development of three contemporary and spacious townhouses each with maximizing natural light to the core of each dwelling whilst maintaining minimal visual and solar impact to its neighbouring properties. The project is now seen as an exemplary development for its typology in the suburb of Botany.
